Concerned about peso getting stronger October 28, 2007
Posted by uhuh in : Income, Pinoy , 2commentsI know it sounds weird, but this is quite how I feel right now. I work in an outsourcing company so we kind of relied on foreign currency for our salary. So knowing that the Philippine peso is actually getting stronger against the dollar is quite disheartening for the outsourcing business. And we are quite worried.
Of course, Neil Crespi doesn’t have this kind of problem, with him traveling all over the world and all that. We are ordinary people with extraordinary responsibilities - that is, huge amount of bills to pay, is what I am talking about. It may sound unnationalistic, but I hope that the peso-dollar exchange would get better. By better, I mean I hope the peso plunges at 55 or something. Yeah, that sounds off but it’s the only way outsourcing business can survive I guess, us included.
Peso is getting stronger October 24, 2007
Posted by uhuh in : Income, Loneliness, Pain, Personal, Pinoy, Society , add a commentI am one of those folks who are troubled if they should be happy that the peso is getting stronger. Well I have some online money making gigs and I get paid in dollars, so the peso regaining momentum would mean lesser value for my dollar earnings.
But of course, I know that it is a good sign that the Pinoy currency is actually kicking some ass in the stock market. I just can’t help getting sad that my dollar earnings would suffer from this. Or perhaps I just don’t get it at all because I have no idea what accounting in San Diego means.
Oh well, I don’t know. I hope things get better soon, whatever that means.
Sam and Piolo attacked by gay rumors October 24, 2007
Posted by uhuh in : Celebrity, Lawsuit, Pain, Pinoy, Rumors, Shame, Society , add a commentThis is not the first time Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby are attacked by gay rumors. They have face many in the past. However, this is the first time that Piolo and Sam tried so hard to deny the accusations.
Just recently Lolit Solis wrote in her column that she saw Piolo and Sam at Sofitel hotel talking to each other in a rather intimate manner. She said she saw Piolo whispering to Sam’s ears and when they noticed her presence, they hurriedly got out of the area leaving Lolit wondering about the big rush.
Now, Sam is threatening to sue Lolit for her statements if she won’t issue a public apology. Lolit, of course, is not scared of this threat. She lashed back that Sam can sue her anytime and that she won’t take her word back.
All I can say is that this issue is so lame yet Sam is so affected by it. If he is not gay, then he is not. There’s no need to try to prove it by suing a journalist who has faced hundreds of libel suits already. Lolit is thick-faced and is used to getting sued already. Not even a face lift in Beverly Hills, CA can handle that thing.
Kyla’s rendition of the Philippine National Anthem October 9, 2007
Posted by uhuh in : Boxing, Celebrity, Music, Pinoy, Sports, Victory , add a commentI blogged previously about how happy I was to see Kyla sing the national anthem during the Manny Pacquiao - Marco Antonio Barrera fight. I am an avid fan of Kyla and I am quite relieved that she didn’t follow what Sheryn and Regine did with their Lupang Hinirang versions.
Kyla sang the song with full of heart but as simply as it should be. There was no vocal aesthetics or acrobatics or whatchamacallit. She sang the song like a Filipino citizen and not as a diva and I appreciate her for that.
Anyway, Kyla really looked great these days. I bet she got liposuction in Houston Texas or something. She became skinny all of a sudden. Or did she?
Watch Kyla’s rendition here. Very impressive.
Manny Pacquiao won against Marco Antonio Barrera October 8, 2007
Posted by uhuh in : Boxing, Celebrity, Pinoy, Politics, Sports, Victory , 1 comment so farI really am not a fan of Pacquiao but I am sort of happy that he won the match agains Mexico’s Marco Antonio Barrera. I know that the Filipinos are happy with that because I believe most Pinoys really love Pacman.
I am also quite impressed with the Kyla sang the National Anthem. Her rendition was very simple and yet she gave so much emotion to the song. My hairs were actually standing as I listened to her singing. Good job Kyla.
Pinoys are hot these days October 6, 2007
Posted by uhuh in : Celebrity, Pinoy, Politics, Shame, Society, Television , 1 comment so farI wrote an entry just two minutes ago about a Pinoy former president being spoofed on American television. Well, a little bird told me that this is not the first time Pinoys made the international headlines this week.
A popular comedy show Desperative Housewives also made fun of the Pinoys. Teri Hatcher’s character Susan Mayer uttered these words:
Can I check those diplomas because I just wanna make sure they are from some med shool in the Philippines.
LOL. Teri should have refused to say those lines. But anway, she is not smart enough to make her own choices though.
And also, Britney Spears included Philippines in her Piece of Me song. Click here to see it for yourself.
Pinoy former president called a slut? October 6, 2007
Posted by uhuh in : Celebrity, Pinoy, Politics, Shame, Society, Television , 1 comment so farI heard from a friend today that a Pinoy former president named Cory Aquino was called a SLUT by some American TV Show. Now that’s way overboard.
That TV show is just so mean, calling people names like that. And I heard that two more women Presidents were also made fun of. Geez, I can’t believe TV has gone so low. I would have imagined that old lady crying over that remark. People just have no respect for women these days. And she is an old woman for crying out loud.
How cruel.
